Satellite imagery of the blast shows extensive damage to the port, flattened warehouses, and a listing cruise ship (the Orient Queen). The blast radius reflects heavy damage more than half a mile inland and debris 1,000 feet southward from the epicenter.

The roof and wall panels around reactor Unit #1 have exploded and the containment structure around Unit #3 has been badly damaged. Moreover, at this point the water intake facility has been damaged, along with the fuel oil tanks that probably power the diesel generators that pump the water through the cooling apparatus during a power outage. This confirms that the facility’s coolant system is completely without function at the time of image acquisition.
